Welcome to everyone!!!

Sorry this entry ended up being posted so late but I was in a panic about getting ready for the Universal Light Expo this last weekend and just did not have the time to post.

Thanks to all who stopped by at the show. It was a wonderful weekend, energizing and enlightening.

It was definitely a worthwhile weekend and if you missed it, you might want to start making plans for next year. The Universal Light Expo is always the second weekend of the month of October and you can get more information at Universal Light Expo

Well...on to this month's Gemstone List.

OCTOBER GEMSTONES

Jasper and Bone Pendant

Wow…the year is going by so fast…is it age or is it the quickening of the total consciousness? Whatever one believes, doesn’t really matter…it is truly a matter of perspective.

And on with the October Gemstones list….

Pink Tourmaline--Connects to creativity, new ideas, maintaining the connection between the self and “All That Is”. Works with the Crown Chakra and the Heart Chakra to combine both Spirituality with Love. It allows one to trust in the power of love, elevating the feelings of joy for life by releasing negativity. It is a special stone to give to one you hope loves you or will come to love you.

Opal-- This crystal is good for emotional healing as well as helping one to look within. The superstition about Opals being bad luck stems from the fragile nature of the un-stabilized crystal. Some forms of Opal which do not exhibit the flashy colors often seen in the Australian Opal, are not as fragile. The Opals with the flashy colors are most often doublets or triplets which means that they have a thin layer of another stone either on top of or under or both the actual thin layer of Opal to help prevent the cracking of the Opal should it dry out. That is one reason you will see the raw Opals in bottle of water to keep them moist.

Turquoise--This is a great stone for empowerment and the Throat Chakra. It is a stone honored by those of Native American origin/descent or those who have had past lives in that role. It is also one of those stones which is often imitated by dying other stones to the color needed…particularly Howlite. It is a relatively soft stone and also needs some stabilization at times. Aids with increasing communication as well as elevating all chakra energies to a higher level. Good for increasing the connection between the physical world and the spiritual world. This is also a protective stone.

Aquamarine--The traditional birthstone for March…this crystal will also substitute as one of the stones compatible with October. It is very peaceful, calming, and good for the throat. Works with swollen glands, to balance glands, excellent for the eyes and vision as well as working with bones and teeth.

Bloodstone w/Gold-fill wire-wrap

Jasper--Traditional protective stone, especially the Red Jasper. There are a large number of types of Jasper...too many to go into in this article. Most Jaspers seem to work with the lower three Chakra points which are those of survival, energy, grounding and protection. Some will also work with the Heart but the Heart chakra is the bridge between the Earth/Physical Chakra points and the Spiritual Chakra points so that is to be expected. (I have a few pieces with Jasper -particularly Bloodstone- shown with this listing. The first is a Bloodstone Cabochon with Gold-fill Wire-wrap. The second is a freeform Bloodstone w/ Copper Wire-wrap and the image at the top of the article is a brown Jasper cabochon on Bone with permanently colored copper wrap. Malachite--One of the tireless healing stones…almost like the aspirin of the stone world…very good for all areas of healing. It should be smudge cleansed after deliberate healing usage due to it’s slightly soft nature. A quick rinse with water is fine but be sure not to let it soak. It has a copper content which is a high conductor of energy. (Pictured with this column is a mixed necklace which features Malachite as well as Mother-of-Pearl and a Natural Shell to aid with the smoother flow of healing with compassion. Rose Zircon--This crystal is said to help with headaches as well as helping one to survive wherever one lives. Aids with broken bones and nervous problems. Soothing and the rose color Zircon works with the Heart Chakra.

Peridot--Is said to balance glandular system; aid tissue regeneration; has a beneficial influence on heart, pancreas, spleen, liver, adrenals. It is also said to purify the body; enhance the bloodstream and is an overall balancer and tonic for body/mind. It may also assist in aligning subtle bodies; increasing intuitive awareness; reducing stress while stimulating the mind. It will also assist in accelerating personal growth while opening new doors for opportunity.

Beryl--Beryl and Aquamarine differ only in color - Beryl is bright blue to white and Aquamarine is sea green to deep green. Best known is the deep green form of beryl, the precious Emerald. The yellow beryl is the heliodor and pink beryl is Morganite and there is also an extremely rare Red Beryl. The list of stones/ crystals which are in the Beryl family are aquamarine, bixbite, emerald, gahnite, heliodor, morganite, and golden or yellow beryl. Each of the stones have their own properties so we will go into the properties of the yellow/golden beryl. It is said to represent purity in all aspects of all planes of being. It is also said to help with initiative and independence in thoughts and actions, stimulating the crown and solar plexus while blending the intellect and spirituality. It gives off the message that there is no obstacle in any circumstance that confidence and conviction cannot resolve. Physically, it is said to help with the treatment of disorders of the heart and spine; concussions and damage in the cranial portion of the head.

Chrysoprase--This is considered a talisman stone, good for past life healing as well as aiding with the healing of sexual organs. Helps with lowering blood pressure and healing the thyroid. Lemon Chrysoprase also works with hormones and adjusting to changing Earth conditions, aiding Lightworkers with their progress toward ascension.
