My Experiences With Meditation Print E-mail
Written by Jim Thornton

Thirty five years ago while an engineering student at YSU, I happened on Jess Stearn's book Edgar Cayce: The Sleeping Prophet. I'd always been interested in science fiction and strange and unusual true stories. The Cayce story made me realize that the Bible stories I'd heard all my life were not just myths and fables, or events that took place thousands of years ago in "Bible Times", but were also happening in today's world. This Truth is what I'd unconsciously been searching for all my life. I realized that Edgar Cayce's life demonstrated that such experiences can potentially happen to me! This left me with the strong emotional impression that "I've come home...". I immersed myself in the Cayce Readings, and at the end of Spring quarter 1968 I drove to the Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE) in Virginia Beach to check it out - and to reassure myself that such a place really exists! My focus and interest intensified - unfortunately, however, to the detriment of my grade point average. Instead of studying, I read the book Venture Inward by Hugh Lynn Cayce (Edgar's son), which explored both dangerous and safe pathways to access the unconscious mind. I opened up to the importance of dream interpretation, even though I'd seldom remember them. And I became especially impressed by an experiment conducted with a group of college students who meditated for two weeks. So impressed with their reports, I decided to try the experiment my self. After two weeks I did indeed experience similar experiences. However, even with personal proof, I wasn't ready to continue and another 9 months passed before I was ready.

RETRO POETRY Print E-mail

RETRO POETRY

OK...my last entry had to do with clearing out that which was no longer needed in my space. This one is a blast from my past.

As I was clearing some items from a box...I found an old folder which had several items from my past...my mother's driver's license and some other items I acquired at her passing well over 20 years ago and some of my old poetry from my days as an aspiring writer.

I know I have more of these around somewhere but, for now, I am only posting three. These are a bit of insight into the old me...prior to my awakening as a metaphysical student and practicianer.

(Ok you armchair psychiatrists...let me know what you glean from these. Others added as I find them will increase that opinion or picture or whatever you want to call it.)

Year End Thoughts...A Bit Early Print E-mail
Written by Tammie Crosby

Welcome to a Year End Message--A Bit Early

Normally something like this gets written closer to the New Year but Spirit is moving me to write this impromtu message...and when Spirit calls...we all must answer by heeding or ignoring.

Yes...answering can be by simply ignoring and going on our merry way as though we never heard the call...but not for me today.

While sitting here and sipping my Amaretto flavored hot chocolate...yummy...and shivering because my furnace is not yet working...brrr...I realized that I have had a pattern over the last 5 years in this particular season and that I need to break the chain. For added emphasis this year, I've been thrown back into silence by having the recently added TV with the indoor antenna stop working and my DVD player along with my VCR also stop working.

SOOOO...what's the message? There is something I definitely need to hear and some very dear friends agreed with me about that...and at least part of that message has to do about STUFF!!!

My home is filled with "STUFF". Much of the stuff is related to my work and art and crafting but there is other stuff that is no longer needed. More of the message?...get the STUFF out of my home...clear the way for a new abundance and new opportunites to start flowing in once more.

This is something I tell many of my clients and I do know that it is for myself as well but...you know how it goes...sometimes you just don't pay attention to your own messages until they smack you in the head or pull you to a screeching halt.

The SOLUTION??? I've started it with the year end clearance sale on the business end and I'm starting in the home with clearing the items I have which others have wanted me to sell for them. Most of those items will be posted on some auction sites within a week or so...just in time for the items to make it to the buyer for the holidays.

Alternately...some items...mine included...will be donated to a variety of thrift shops before the New Year enters. The remainder of the items I cannot seem to get sold for other people will be returned to them...getting much of the energies of others out of my space...not that their energies are bad...far from it...it's just that they are items which no longer serve their purpose for them and they never served any purpose for me. I gave them their best shot at finding new homes but there is nothing more I can do after this go-round.

Message for others?...yes...look around you and see what you no longer need in your space. Check if you are holding things which really serve no purpose...both physically with items and emotionally with others. Are you the repository for STUFF?...your own and others'? If so...now is an extremely good time to release it all.

Best of luck and Happy Holidays!!!
