RETRO POETRY- PART 3 – THE CHILDREN
Onward with the Retro Poetry – Part 3!!! This batch of poetry was inspired during the time when I was raising my children and thus is totally themed for children. One of my boys even used them when he needed to collect poetry for a class assignment…not claimed as his own but as part of the poetry he had found written by others.
I also used these during the time I was painting on slates and I added the poetry with appropriate pictures. Unfortunately, I never took any pictures of these pieces.

I MADE A FLOWER FOR MOMMY
By Tamera Crosby
1986
The tape’s not straight,
The stem is bent,
And the tissue paper tore,
But here it is,
Just for you,
With all my love and more.

APPLE TREE
By Tamera Crosby
1986
Pretty little apple tree
Filled with shiny fruit,
Won’t you drop just one to me,
A small one, round and cute?
*****
BUSTER
By Tamera Crosby
1986
My puppy’s name is Buster.
He’s full of energy.
He likes to run and pounce and play
And tag along with me.
Sometimes he can be naughty,
Leaving messes on the floor,
That’s when he gets a scolding
And scooted out the door.
But Buster’s still my best friend,
That’s what he’ll always be,
And we will have some great times,
My Buster and me.
*****
FAWN
By Tamera Crosby
1989
Darkness shrouds the fields and forests,
Brushed but lightly by shades of dawn,
And deep within a flowered thicket,
Rests a tiny, big-eyed fawn.
Up seeps the chilling fog of morning
To lace the land with beads of dew
And paint for him another picture
Because, to him, the world’s still new.
*****
UNICORN
By Tamera Crosby
1986
Silent, elusive, simple and pure
Is the creature from folkish lore,
Softly treading the winding paths of the mind.
Glowing white and shining gold
Are the tell-tale signs of its fleeting flight
Into the feathery realms of fanciful dreams.
