PENDULUMS—USE, LORE AND MORE

I would wager to say that almost everyone has heard about Pendulums. They may be one of the world’s simplest divining tools, often used in finding lost items, water, or the unbalanced areas of people and animals. Also being one of the oldest accepted tools, it is best known for its YES/NO answers by tapping into the users intuitive senses.

Pendulums are akin to Divining Rods, both the forked willow branch which old-timers used to find water for their farms, and the slightly more modern version with the pair of straight wires with the right angle in them for holding as handles so they may swing freely to and fro when held straight in front of the user. The metal Diving Rods work almost exclusively with the energy fields of things, people and places…including the search for water. Neither the forked willow branch nor the metal rods seem much used for the YES/NO answers for which the Pendulum offers…though, with practice, it may be possible.

Energy and Reiki users will often use a pendulum to check on the progress of their work or to narrow down the treatment area by finding the blockages. Using a pendulum, one may also help direct and correct energy imbalances by purposely altering the pendulum’s direction and thus influencing the energy flow.

I am not debunking the usage of the pendulum for the yes/no/maybe answers because I do know many people (readers) who use them with great accuracy but I have found that they work the best when doing it for others and not for the self. Simply, the pendulum is often influenced by the user’s conscious or sub-conscious thoughts. It does tap into ones intuitive sense but, as I said before, I find it more accurate when the questioner is separate from the holder…that way it has more validity.

I, personally, prefer to use them in scanning the Chakra points…(which I do offer when I am set-up as a vendor at shows)…and for testing over a client on a Reiki table to find blockages as well as checking for changes in the areas with which have already been adjusted or energized. In defining what the Chakra points should do with the pendulum, much depends upon the user. If the user is well acquainted with the alternating energy flows of the Chakra points, then the pendulum will respond by showing which direction the energy flow is with each point. If the user prefers to simply see if the opening for each point is a regular circle or irregular, then that is how the pendulum will respond. It will even do the yes/no motions when there are some major issues with specific points. Practice with how you ‘feel’ and what you ‘see’ with each point allows you to interpret what the motions of the pendulum mean and even then, the same movement or motion may not mean quite the same thing with each successive person…just like the cards in a tarot reading may mean two totally different things to two different people.

In looking for lost items, one can go walking through the house or area where the item was thought to be lost or one can simply start out by verbally asking and narrowing down the area…like “Are my car keys in the house?”… (Make sure to ask in the Yes/No form and be specific about what you are seeking because there could be many sets of keys in a house.)…and then go to specific rooms like “Are my car keys in the kitchen?”…and then go on from there, narrowing down the location.

One fun use…(I totally stress FUN use)…is holding a pendulum over a slot machine to see if it is an ‘open’ machine which will be paying off shortly or not. In using the pendulum this way, I suggest that you choose a time when there are not so many people around…early morning after the machines have had a slight rest seems the best time or even really late at night after the crowds have thinned. (Too many people emit too much energy and it interferes with the energies of the machines.) What I did…(yes, I tried it!)…was walk through the rows of machines with the pendulum and when it started swinging or when I was drawn to a particular set of machines, I would stand in front of each machine and hold the pendulum over the slot asking “Should I play this machine?” or “Will this machine pay off within five minutes…five spins…$5.00?”…(Choose one option only at a time but be specific for a timeframe or an amount.) Most of the time, I was successful…not always…there is always an error window…and it may not have been much but it did pay off within the timeframe or parameters I set. My major problem was that I would often not continue to ask if I should go on playing that machine and would end up putting all I won back into it. Sometimes I got a bit self-conscious in using the pendulum when others were near and would skip using it or, if it was a significant amount…I’d get too excited. All of which is why I totally stress that using a pendulum in this way is FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY!!!

And yes…I have also known people who would go to the race tracks and use a pendulum to pick the horses or dogs for placing their bets but you really have to be attuned to your pendulum and you need some quiet space and time to be able to do it. (One of the people who used the pendulum to help select horses went into a restroom stall with the racing form and made the choices there.) How well this method worked, I do not know…they never shared that information but, as far as I know, they are still doing it whenever they do go to a track. Again, THIS IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY!!

Now that we’re on the gambling vein…one might ask about choosing numbers for the lottery…I’m sure there are those who have tried it but they certainly have not shared that information with anyone I know. There are just too many number combinations to be able to work accurately but you might use the pendulum to see if you should play a specific number…then, again, if you are drawn to a certain number…there’s probably a reason.

Disclaimer: PENDULUM USUAGE FOR GAMBLING IS STRICTLY FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY AS WITH ANY DIVINATION SYSTEM.

There are many styles and types of pendulums, from the pretty, mass-marketed ones to the handcrafted ones which will be featured for sale on this site. One can even use a favorite pendant/necklace, a needle and thread, a washer and string, or car keys. The old needle and thread one was often used over the wrists of brides to see how many children they would have and of what sex they would be or were. (This can be done whether the lady is a bride or not…we tried it on ourselves one night when it was slow at the nursing home many years ago.) The choice of a pendulum is strictly up to the user. Go with the one you are drawn to and feels the best. Fancy is not always best. I had a client who could not get any of my natural, non-metal pendulums to move, however, when she tried the totally metal pendulums at another table, they did work. Come to find out that she was attuned to the metals because she had been doing dowsing with the rods. I’ve had the same thing happen with the metal ones where the person could not get them to move but could the natural ones or even the mixed ones with stones and crystals.

Pendulum Instructions:

To use: One should first attune themselves to the chosen pendulum by holding it comfortably at the fob end of the pendulum…the top…allowing it to dangle freely with the point suspended over nothing, the other palm, or a chart. Then the user asks the pendulum to show them YES which usually results in a back and forth motion but not always. This is where the attunement part is coming in…whatever the motion is…that is YOUR yes. If the motion is barely there, slow or sluggish, ask it to swing stronger. Once the swing is established, ask it to stop. Once stopped, ask it to show you NO following the same procedure as before. Then you can tune it further by asking it to show you MAYBE and I DON’T KNOW or OPEN and CLOSED, as the case maybe. (The latter ones are usually used with the energy work.)

Sometimes, you will get a standing still sort of stuttering or jiggling where there is no definite swing to the pendulums motions. At times, these may be the YES/ NO answers or even the I DON’T KNOW. The closer you become attuned with your particular pendulum, the more you will recognize its quirks and messages.

Remember that you are not limited to the traditional and taught methods of pendulum usage. Each pendulum, especially handcrafted ones offered on this site, is as unique as the user. Let the pendulum be a starting point for new areas of investigation and uses. It is only limited by you.

These are handcrafted pendulums made with copper crafting wiring, some of which is permanently colored as noted. The copper wire conducts/amplifies the energy of the crystals and stones used in the making of these pendulums. The lengths vary and are with each individual description.

In choosing a pendulum through the media of the web, go with your first instinct since you are not able to actually hold them prior to purchase. I suggest checking a ruler or tape measure to get a good estimate of the length. The pictures are the best I can provide with the camera and the program I currently have. I apologize if they are not as clear as I would have liked for them to be but I will try to compensate by providing the best description of each one and the associated meanings, both by the book and intuitively, as I can.

The pendulums are $15.00 each and do include S&H… within the continental United States…(outside of the continental U.S. may be an additional charge). Each will include a handmade carry pouch and an instruction card. THESE ARE EACH ONE-OF-A-KIND AND ARE SOLD ON A FIRST COME-FIRST-SERVE BASIS. They are also available for a limited time through the site. So, if you are drawn to a particular pendulum, e-mail me as soon as possible to get your best choice.

Payment is through PAYPAL for the swiftest and most secure ordering method. Postal Money Orders are also accepted but you must get your order in to secure/hold the particular pendulum you want. Shipment will be within 48-72 hours after receiving payment. If choosing to use PAYPAL, an invoice will be sent for your convenience. If choosing the Postal Money Order method, complete mailing information will be sent at the time of the order.

PLEASE USE THE LINK ABOVE OR WITH EACH PENDULUM TO ORDER. Multiple orders to the same shipping address are welcome, but due to the already low cost of the pendulums, there are no discounts on combining them.

If you do not see a pendulum which ‘speaks’ to you, but still would like a handcrafted pendulum, I do take orders. Custom made pendulums will range from the standard $15.00 to $25.00 or more, depending upon what stones or crystals are incorporated into them. S&H will still be included within the continental United States.

Measures roughly 8 inches long. It features a Red/Orange Jasper ‘Donut’ which is also considered a holy (hole-y) stone which aids in repelling negativity and securing protection. (With the holy stone, one can peer through the hole and gently blow through it in the direction from which one feels negativity is emanating to return it back to the sender in a positive way. NEVER send back more negative feelings and energies because they will only come back to you magnified…send positive and loving light instead, it helps both to move on past the pettiness and destructiveness of negativity.)

The Jasper, itself, is highly protective and often used in Shamanic rituals. The Mahogany Obsidian Arrowhead also provides protection from negativity and aids with cutting those ties which are holding one back, physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Pendulum measures almost 8 inches long. It has navy blue permanently colored copper wire. It features a Black Obsidian Arrowhead which helps dispel negativity, release grief, and severe ethereal ties which are no longer needed and are holding one back or draining ones energy. The radiant Agate slice as the fob does not show up well in the photograph. When held up to the light, the radiant glow of the creamy ochre center emerges, bringing in a golden light energy and a myriad of guides, helpers and healers…protective, enlightening, and yet grounding.
