MARCH GEMSTONES

Welcome to all. Are you ready for Spring yet? This will be the last of my year of monthly gemstone lists. I don’t know yet what I will address next month and am open to questions or suggestions. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

As you can see from the list, there is a large price range in one’s gemstone choices. Please remember to trust your instinct but be aware of your budget when acquiring that special stone. The raw gem may not be as pretty but the energies remain the same and they are usually a fraction of the cost of a finished piece. Perhaps I will go into the lengthy process of cutting, polishing and finishing a gemstone at a later date. Most do not realize the process and length of time it takes to get a fine gemstone finished into the beautiful jewelry which appeals to us.

March Gemstones

Aquamarine--The traditional birthstone for March…this crystal will also substitute as one of the stones compatible with October. It is very peaceful, calming, and good for the throat. Works with swollen glands, to balance glands, excellent for the eyes and vision as well as working with bones and teeth.

(This is a rough specimen of Aquamarine. I have recently been working with some of the rough and will be having at least one piece done up in a necklace or pendulum shortly. Please keep cheacking back for updates.)

Bloodstone--This form of Jasper is good for balancing, blood and liver problems, prosperity, and stopping bleeding. Generally good for whole body cleansing and also helps one deal with and remove old anger. Word of caution-this stone will amplify PMS problems with some females so if it seems to do that at those ‘times of the month’, it would be wise NOT to carry or wear it. There is also a legend/myth associated with Bloodstone. The red spots which look like drops of blood are suppose to be the blood of Christ which is why it is suppose to work with healing blood/circulation problems.

(This Bloodstone pendant has gold-fill wire-wrapping and is available for purchase. March Special price: $20.00 with S&H included. Use this link for purchasing this pendant. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Purchasing may be done through PayPal. I will send a PayPal invoice after being notified by the e-mail link above. You may also send payment with money order. I will send my mailing address through the e-mail link as well. If you do have questions, please feel free to use the link above.)

Amethyst--Works with the Crown Chakra, gentle allover healer. This opens for intuition and messages through the Crown chakra but may be used wherever it is needed for bringing in the Violet healing light. It aids soothing in times of distress; connects one to the angelic realm as well as with the devic realm. It is excellent for meditation and used to protect against psychic attacks by sending said attacks out into the Universe where they are transformed into a positive, loving energy. Ancients used the Amethyst to help support sobriety and is a good aide to help resist addictions. Also may be used to help repel fleas from cats by placing a few small crystals or one mid-sized crystal into the cat's water dish. (I have a friend who swears by this and is constantly getting more to have on hand...it's good to change the stones out now and again to give the immersed ones a chance to re-energize.)

CORAL--Is a living stone, having once been alive as a sea creature, thus it contains cycling energies as well as the energies of the ocean. The colors will determine which chakra point to which it will attune but it is said to have an overall ability to quiet the emotions and bring peace within the self. It is also often used with enhancing the remembrance of dreams and heighten the intuitive senses bringing a better communication with past spiritual masters and ease the transfer of needed knowledge.

(This is an Agatized Coral pendant wrapped in silver wire. It isn't strictly just coral but also contains agate but it is a beautiful piece with shadow pictures in it. It is also available for purchase. $20.00 with S&H included. I will add the link later.)

TURQUOISE--Turquoise is said to help tone and strengthen the entire body; tissue regeneration; circulation; lungs; respiratory system; aid in vitalizing the bloo0d asnd the nervous system. It also is said to aid with meditation; creative expression; peace of mind; emotional balance; communication by working with the throat Chakra; friendship; and loyalty. It is a special stone to those of Native American descent and enhances luck to those who are drawn to this stone. It is a softer stone and is often stabilized. It is also one of the stones which gets imitated by dying Howlite to the turquoise color

Fire Opal--The Fire Opal embodies the energies of mystery, variety, progress and change. It aids in seeing from different points of view and understanding the different aspects in ones life as when going through major changes. It is said to aid in surviving through stressful times and ease the ‘burn-out’ feelings by bringing hope for the future and faith in the self.

AMBER--Amber does come in a few colors but is mostly noted for the golden to yellow-brown color. The other colors it may contain are red, blue, or green hues. Matching the color to the chakra point helps with opening and cleansing of that point. This is another stone/crystal which was once part of a living thing…it is the sap of trees and is a fossilized resin. It speaks from the past and aids with past life recall as well a ancient knowledge. It also transmutes the energy of physical vitality toward the activation of unconditional love. It has been used for a symbol of renewing marriage vows and has been said to bring good luck to warriors. It is said to act as a purifier for ones body, mind and spirit when worn or carried.

CHALCEDONY--This is a member of the Quartz family and can be translucent, transparent, or opaque and may occasionally contain small amount of Opal. Agate, Bloodstone, Chrysoprase, Carnelian, Chert, Flint, Jasper, Onyx, Sardonyx, Touchstone and Petrified Wood are all specific varieties of Chalcedony. It is said to promote stability and open the pathways for thought communications. It encourages a oneness for the ‘brotherhood of all’, good will, nurturing, and is also said to ease hostilities, irritability and melancholy while enhancing generosity, and receptiveness. Certain types of Chalcedony may also aid with connecting to lost civilizations like Atlantis, Lemuria, and Muu.

JASPER--Traditional protective stone, especially the Red Jasper. There are a large number of types of Jasper...too many to go into in this article. Most Jaspers seem to work with the lower three Chakra points which are those of survival, energy, grounding and protection. Some will also work with the Heart but the Heart chakra is the bridge between the Earth/Physical Chakra points and the Spiritual Chakra points so that is to be expected.

(These three pendants are not all Jasper...only the two on the left. The one on the right is Agate. These are also for sale but will be a part of a special sale upcomingwithin the next few weeks. Please be sure to check back for this really big grouping sale.)

I was thinking that it might be interesting to read some articles using gems and stones from a how-to perspective.

For example, if you're having a particular problem, which gems and stones can be used to address the problem?

This weekend I felt lousy and exhausted even after sleeping a lot two nights in a row. I sat down with my chakra deck to see if I could figure out why the sleep didn't seem to be enough. I discovered that my 3rd chakra is a mess and my 7th could also use some work. My 5th also seems to be just on this side of OK, but if I keep forcing myself forward as I have been for a while, I'm sure I'll burn out my will shortly.

What to do?

Life has been very stressful recently, especially in regards to money and my work and I want to try to stay balanced. I know I'll be happier that way and I'll be able to "weather the storm" a lot better if I can keep my energy flowing.

The chakra deck recommends some yoga poses and a meditation, but when I saw this post in the forum it made me wonder in what way gems and stones might also be helpful.

Hi JCH111, Welcome to the Forum! I did a quick search through the archives and found this post www.americanmetaphysics.org/blogs/lunar-...-heart-necklace.html about Tammie Crosby's Red Heart Necklace for grounding. I will also make sure she sees this post.

For third chakra you probably also want to focus on deep, belly breathing and meditation.

Good Luck!

Thank-you for your interest in using gemstones and crystals for balancing and healing energies.

From what you were describing, especially for the Third Chakra, I would suggest a couple of things. One would be using either citrine, golden calcite, or even smoky rutilated quartz in the 3rd chakra area when you are trying to pull in more energy.

The Citrine is self-cleansing and is a very joyful, energizing stone...a drop of sunshine.

The golden (or Honey) Calcite may need a light cleansing and energizing from time to time but it also works with clearing blocks with the chakra point and helps to re-align the charka points.

Smoky Rutilated Quartz also would need light cleansing from time to time but it can work with pulling in energy, gaining focus, and dispeling the negativity from that particular chakra as well as many other areas.

You can carry a stone with you, wear it as jewelry or keep it near you...like on a desk or even a nightstand.

As for the sleeping problem, it sounds like the mental ideas, etc. do not wish to shut down when you need to get your rest. For that, I would recomend any cool colored stone, amethyst, fluorite, or even rose quartz. One other stone...which is not really a stone...but does help with soothing...white coral or even sea shells. The soothing energies of the oceans have a wonderful way of calming busy minds.

Hope this helps give you some ideas. As I have stated many times throughout my listings, each individual needs to use what they are most drawn to and not just because someone elese recommends it. If it feels right to you, especially when choosing a stone, crystal, or sea shell, then go for it.
