Here is another installment of Crystal Descriptions.
(These are not by any means an all inclusive list, just a most common list with a concentration on stones and crystals most often used in jewelry settings.)

Beryl - This stone is a medium opaque blue Aquamarine but also has many other family members including Emerald

Bloodstone - This is a dark green Jasper with red spots and patches, sometimes including yellow. The stone legend has it that the red is the drops of Christ’s blood as they fell on the Earth from the cross.

Buddstone - This little known but relatively common stone is a mottled apple green.

Carnelian - This is a fiery stone and comes in bright orange and light to dark orange and is a member of the Agate family.

Celestite - This crystal is a beautiful, translucent pale blue.

Chrysoprase - This stone is normally a medium, opaque green, though it can be a pale light green to greenish yellow sometimes with darker design lines. It can be classified as Lemon or Mint Chrysoprase, depending on the color.

Citrine - This is often a golden orange or even golden brown to orange to light yellow with some clear to white quartz.

Dalmatian - This is sometimes called a Jasper. It has black spots on light grey to beige Quartzsite, looking exactly as the name implies…like a Dalmatian dog.

Danburite - This stone is generally a transparent colorless or very pale pink with an unusual depth to it beyond regular Quartz.

Emerald -This Beryl is an opaque, emerald green, though the high gemmy crystals may be semi-translucent to translucent.

More Crystal and Stone Identifications will be posted over the next few days. As time permits, I will also add more than the initial basic list.

The definitions are also being compiled so keep checking back or sign up for the Blue Dragon Beauty newsletter list or the American Metaphysics newsletter list.

You may also contact me via the e-mail links to request being added to my new blog entry notification list. If you wish to be removed from the list, please e-mail me and I will do so within 24 to 48 hours of receiving the request.
